The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is closing the I-91 southbound exit 9 ramp to I-391 northbound for tree trimming operations.

The closure is set to begin on Monday, Dec. 1 from 9 p.m. and will last until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the department said in a press release.

Traffic will be detoured to exit 8 southbound to Birnie Avenue, to Walter Street, then Noble Street to access the I-91 northbound on-ramp to I-391 northbound.

“Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution,” MassDOT said. “Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.”

The department added that all scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
