ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - A firefighter had minor injures, and a cat died after an early morning porch fire Saturday, firefighters say.
Crews responded to the fire about 3 a.m. in the 1800 block of 37th Street Saturday, according to a media release from the Rock Island Fire Department. Crews said a passerby saw the fire and called 911.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and then begin searching for two cats, officials said. One did not survive.
Firefighters said all occupants were able to get out safely.
The cause of the fire in under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal. Officials said estimated damage is $65,000.
