NEW ORLEANS — The United Cajun Navy says they have found the wreckage of the plane that went missing over Lake Pontchartrain Monday night.
The volunteer search organization said in a that their crews and Team Texas K9s have located the wreckage of a missing Cessna 172 aircraft.
Photos show scrap metal and other debris found.
The United Cajun Navy says divers are in the water searching for signs of the missing crew members. The group said the family of one of the missing pilots is holding vigil with Chaplain Tony Dickey as the search continues.
K9 searcher crews were alerted by the K9s of a debris field that led divers to find a large section of the fuselage. Buoys are marking the location.
“Please pray for our crew and for our mission,” the organization said in the post.
