BBC veteran David Dimbleby was confronted by a member of the public while filming his new documentary What’s the Monarchy For? – and the interaction didn’t go down well. In the new show, which examines how the British Royal Family can continue after a spate of scandals, David was outside Westminster Abbey when a man approached him.

Speaking to his friend, the man said: “This guy is a famous liberal leftie. A BBC leftie. Typical.” He then warned David that whatever programme he was making “had better be objective”, leading the presenter to vow: “I’ll do my best.”

Though he was amused by the encounter, it does bring the allegations of BBC bias further into the spotlight.
