Phoenix police are investigating the death of 34-year-old Ruben Acedo as a homicide after his body was found in a burning vehicle in early November, according to officials.

The department released details about Acedo's death on Nov. 25 after police said they received new information leading them to investigate the death as a homicide, police said.

"Due to it being a car fire, there was not enough information to accurately report what occurred right away," said Jennifer Zak with the Phoenix Police Department.

"Once it was brought to our attention, we issued the release with accurate information on the later date."

On Nov. 6, officers responded to reports of a vehicle fire at about 9 p.m. near 71st Avenue and Indian School Road, police said.
