MONROE, Mich. — The city of Monroe Public Safety Department responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-75 on Friday night, according to a Facebook post made by the department.

The man driving experienced a medical emergency, causing him to crash into the outer wall of southbound I-75, close to Front St.

Both Police and Fire Department personnel members who responded to the scene rapidly removed the driver, began CPR, and initiated advanced life-saving measures.

The driver was transported to Promedica Monroe, where he initially received treatment, before being transported to Promedica Toledo.

The man remains in critical condition, according to the Safety Department's post.

The public safety teams expressed gratitude to all of the motorists at the scene for their patience and cooperation
