Citing colder weather and potential precipitation, Little Rock announced Saturday that it would open its temporary emergency shelter for two nights beginning Sunday evening.
The overnight shelter at the Dunbar Community Center at 1001 W. 16th St. will be open for any resident between 6 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday, and again between 6 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to a city news release.
The city promised to "continue to actively monitor weather forecasts" to inform decisions on whether to open the shelter for more overnight periods.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday night was expected to be mostly cloudy with a low of 27 degrees. Monday night, the weather service said showers were likely, with a chance of freezing rain and a low of 28 degrees.
