INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - The Independence Police Department is investigating a missing persons case turned homicide.

The victim, Elayjah Murray, was reported missing on Nov. 28. As they investigated, the Independence Criminal Investigation Unit learned Murray had possibly been shot.

Independence police said in a statement that Murray was found dead in south Kansas City, Missouri, on Nov. 29. There does not appear to be a person of interest in custody at this time.

IPD is still investigating this incident. They said anyone with information should contact the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS or the IPD Criminal Analyst Unit.
