A woman has been jailed after she was spotted having sex outside a busy shopping centre in broad daylight. Rachel Hardy-Gent, who had her breasts exposed and was naked from the waist down, was seen engaging in the intimate act in Whitley Bay by a delivery driver.

A court heard that the pair were in full view of passers-by and those using Park View Shopping Centre, ChronicleLive reports. Police were called and Hardy-Gent was arrested and later found to be carrying a broken wine bottle neck in her bra, prosecutors said.

Hardy-Gent, of Finsmere Place, in Slatyford, has now been jailed for 16 weeks after she pleaded guilty to outraging public decency, possession of an offensive weapon and breaching a suspended sentence.
