Al Jonathan Wimpy, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Dahlonega, Georgia, on November 29, 2025, with his family by his side.
Al was born on February 1, 1940, to Archie “Guy” Wimpy and Blonnie Jones Wimpy. A lifelong Dahlonega native, he attended Lumpkin County High School, where he was one of 51 graduating seniors. In 1960, Al married Elizabeth Ann Moore, and together they shared 65 years of marriage.
The young couple made their first home in New Port Richey, Florida, where Al followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the family trucking business. In the late 1960s, he launched his first independent venture, establishing Appalachian Material Service, a concrete business that served Lumpkin County, Georgia.
