Old Lyme senior Chase Gilbert was one of five Connecticut runners to qualify for the Brooks Cross Country National championships after finishing eighth in the Northeast Regional championship i n Boston Saturday.

Gilbert, the State Open champion who won the Class S state title four times, finished the 5,000-meter course at Franklin Park in 17 minutes, 32 seconds.

In the boys race, Brunswick School senior Nathan Lee, of Greenwich, finished second (15:00) and his Brunswick teammate Teddy Hojlo of Greenwich came in seventh (15:23.7). East Lyme’s Sam Leone, the State Open champion, finished fifth (15:20.1) and Griswold junior Tycen LaBelle, the State Open runner-up, was eighth (15:29.1).
