A homicide investigation was underway after a person was found dead inside a St. Lucie County home that went up in flames, authorities said.
Firefighter and deputies had responded to the home in the 600 block of S. Market Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Friday for reports of a fire, St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office officials said.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire and made their way inside, where they found the victim's body.
It was initially believed that the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds but an autopsy determined the victim had suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries, the sheriff's office said.
The victim's identity hasn't been released, and officials said the homicide investigation is ongoing.
