More than 30 handicap placards were seized after they were being used illegally, according to the Mount Dora Police Department.

The two-day operation was conducted at Target stores and Walmart stores. The goal of the operation was to protect accessible parking spaces for community members who truly depend on them.

During the operation, police conducted more than 80 traffic stops and recovered more than 30 handicap placards being used illegally, according to Mount Dora PD.

"It is a crime, you can be arrested for this," said Keith Vidler with Mount Dora PD. "What is shocking is just here in the small town of Mount Dora, just in that two days, the number of people we contacted."
