LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Police Department is offering safety reminders after the City of Lincoln recorded the eighth-highest crash total in the last eight years on Saturday.
Numbers reviewed by LPD’s Crime Analysis Unit show officers responded to 72 crashes on Saturday.
LPD said the only two other 2025 dates in the top 20 are from the February snowstorm.
This year, LPD has averaged 20 crashes per day. The record since Jan. 1, 2018, occurred on Dec. 23, 2020, with 90 crashes.
LPD has provided the following safety tips for drivers:
Slow down and give yourself extra stopping distance, especially when there’s ice or snow covering the road.
Turn on your lights, buckle up and avoid distractions.
