Adelie "Addie" Latta, a Denham Springs High School senior and member of the school’s powerlifting team, died Sunday of injuries she received in a car crash that happened nearly a month ago.

Latta died in the hospital where she had been receiving treatment, the school announced in an online statement.

Latta was critically injured in a Nov. 3 crash.

The school's powerlifting team said in a social media post that she put up "an incredibly impressive 27 day fight".

“If you were ever at a meet with her or saw her on the platform, you received nothing less than a great joke and an infectious smile,” the message said. “She was someone who lit up a room the second she walked in.”
