A winter storm is sweeping across Missouri, bringing a mix of challenges for drivers and communities.

From Kansas City to the northern two-thirds of the state, Allan Curtis with the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill told Missourinet that snow started falling steadily since Monday afternoon and is expected to taper off on Monday night.

“From Springfield up through the Iowa, Missouri border, I’m obviously including the KC Metro and bleeding on over into the St. Louis Metro and overall, on the lower end there would be closer to an inch,” said Curtis. “Things like that on the edges, but then a good chunk of the area can expect two to four (inches). Locally, we may see a few spots to even touch five to six inches.”

Curtis said the biggest concern is slick roads.
