Uptown Kingston is about to lose one of its most familiar fixtures. Uptown Coffee, open in one form or another for over two decades, will pour its last cups soon. Owner Jenna Benincasa posted an emotional farewell message to customers on Sunday, Nov. 30, noting “the story ends” on January 1, 2026.

“You all know that I can talk. I’m a woman of many words!” Benincasa wrote on Instagram, saying she had “started to write this so many times,” only to backspace, cry, laugh and “experience all the emotions.” After moving from Indiana, she said, she “failed to really find my footing until I took a chance on this business.” Uptown Coffee, which she calls “my first child,” is where she grew roots in New York, as friends “turned into family and giant branches” on her “family tree” here.
