NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Heads up, Nashville parents: Metro students do not have school on Tuesday.

Metro Nashville Public Schools says the state requires them to make schools available for polling sites during elections. The district noted in an email earlier this year that its leaders “did not have input” into the Special Election dates.

Tuesday’s special election was scheduled after the school year had already started, causing the district to adjust its school calendar.

“We know families and staff make plans around the school calendar, and our goal is to minimize disruption while keeping safety and instructional time as top priorities.
