WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Wichita Work Release Center will experience nightly water shutoffs as crews replace the water system at the downtown facility.
The Kansas Department of Corrections said water will be turned off at 8 p.m. and is expected to be restored by 6 a.m. the following morning. The shutoffs could continue nightly through next Tuesday.
A concerned resident contacted 12 News about hygiene and water access for people living at the facility during the outages.
The Department of Corrections said porta-potties will be brought in for restroom use during the shutoffs. For drinking water, the department said in a statement that “5-gallon jugs filled with drinking water will be stationed in several places throughout the facility.”
