HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The Better Business Bureau receives daily reports of misleading social media ads as holiday shopping ramps up, warning consumers to be cautious while scrolling through their favorite apps.
The BBB said beware when clicking on enticing ads while scrolling through apps like Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
Clicking on the link to a cute holiday sweater could lead you to a fake website with pictures and logos that look real.
The BBB said they’ve received several reports of people making a purchase, and the item never shows up, it looks nothing like what was advertised, or they get charged monthly for a free trial they never signed up for.
