GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The 2025 Wisconsin Gun Deer hunting season is officially in the books.
With a great bow and gun season this year, local deer processors are working overtime, turning that game into products like snack sticks, summer sausage and fresh bratwurst.
Maplewood Meats in Green Bay seeing a large influx of deer, with Sunday being the last day hunters were able to go out.
“We’re looking to beat last year for sure, it’s looking to be a really good year again,” said Maplewood Meats Plant Manager Brad Van Hemelryk.
To ensure high quality, Maplewood Meats only accept fresh or fresh-frozen, boneless, trimmed, and cleaned wild game.
The DNR will soon release the final numbers from the gun deer hunt; the preliminary numbers are expected on Tuesday.
