TALBOT COUNTY, Ga. (WTVM) - The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office has launched a Senior Citizen Welfare Check Program to provide regular contact with elderly residents in the county.

The program allows families and friends to request weekly phone calls or home visits from sheriff’s deputies to check on elderly loved ones. Seniors can also sign up for the service themselves.

Participants can choose between receiving a weekly phone call or a home visit from a deputy, according to Sheriff Bobby Gates Jr.

The program is available only to elderly residents of Talbot County.
