PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - After years of struggling, the people of Robin Court are now seeing physical progress being made to connect them to safe drinking water.
Pittsylvania County is funding the construction to disconnect 17 homes from a shared well and connect them to the town of Chatham’s water supply.
This comes after reports of dangerous levels of Radium in 2019 and 2020 and Lead in 2024.
Glendora Johnson says the water pressure and quality has affected her daily life for decades.
“Our experience has been kind of horrible,” said Glendora Johnson, Robin Court resident. “When I bathe, the water’s rusty. When I wash clothes, it’s like mud comes out the pipes. Sometimes, the water has an odor to it.”
