Construction began Tuesday with a groundbreaking ceremony in London’s SoHo neighbourhood for a supportive housing project designed to help people facing mental health or addiction issues.

The four-storey building at 250 Hill St. will offer 33 fully furnished units, including seven accessible, barrier-free suites.

The project is a collaboration among CMHA Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services, which is leading it, along with the London Community Foundation, city hall and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.

“Today’s groundbreaking represents more than the start. It marks the commitment to building a community where people can live well,” Pam Tobin, CEO of CMHA Thames Valley, said.
