Surveillance cameras were rolling when a masked robber ambushed a convenience store employee at gunpoint in Rensselaer County, police said.
The incident happened in Brunswick, at the Sunoco station on Hoosick Road, around 5:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, according to New York State Police.
Troopers responded after a clerk reported that a man entered the store, displayed a purple handgun, and demanded cash. He then fled the scene on foot toward Brick Church Road after taking the cash.
State Police quickly identified 31-year-old Nicholas Dodge as their suspect, and located him during a traffic stop on Brick Church Road. He was arrested without incident.
Troopers recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the robbery, along with most of the stolen money, police said.
Dodge was remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility without bail.
