SCRANTON, Pa. — More accessibility, upgrades to city safety, and underground parking are just some of the benefits Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti says can be possible if the city buys the current Fidelity Bank office building, next door.
"Expanding City Hall has been in our capital budget for a couple of years now, and we will not have to borrow funding to purchase this building. We actually have the funding now. So we're looking forward to City Council and giving it a final blessing, and we're looking forward to being able to make that expansion in 2026," said Cognetti.
Cognetti says that the proposed expansion would create a larger municipal government footprint in downtown Scranton.
It would start the city fire headquarters on Mulberry Street, the city's municipal building half a bloc
