AAA recommends keeping a dedicated winter emergency kit in your car. Items that could save you from a stressful or dangerous situation include:
An ice scraper and snow brush
Jumper cables
A small snow shovel
Salt, sand, or kitty litter to help provide traction
First aid kit
Window washer solvent
Warm gloves, hats, and blankets
Warning devices, like flashing lights or road flares
Water and snacks
A flashlight
