COLUMBUS, Ohio — Planned Parenthood has closed its Franklinton clinic along West Broad Street.
The organization said Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio lost $10 million in federal funding over the past year.
Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio said 17 staff members were laid off. The organization said about 40% of its patients used Medicaid, but after the “Big Beautiful Bill” passed over the summer, those patients were no longer allowed to receive care through Planned Parenthood.
Leaders say the drop in patient volume contributed to the West Broad Street clinic’s closure.
Lauren Blauvelt, executive director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio, said the decision was difficult.
