Three men were taken into ICE custody after police responded to reports of a burglary at a vacant apartment in Freeport, according to Southern Armstrong Regional Police Chief Christopher Fabec.
Officers were dispatched to the apartment on Monday morning after the department received reports of a burglary in progress. When they arrived, they learned that a person was in an attic unit that was supposed to be vacant, Chief Fabec said.
The man was taken into custody, although he did not identify himself and spoke very little English, according to Chief Fabec, who said the man kept repeating “I am from Mexico.”
Police determined that there was at least one more person in the attic, although multiple attempts to get the person to leave the attic were unsuccessful.
