JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3) -With nearly 500 bills sent to the Missouri House of Representatives clerks on Monday, lawmakers are setting a new record for the number of bills pre-filed on the first eligible day.
Even with a record number of bills , lawmakers are hyper-focused on one particular issue: lowering the cost of living for Missourians.
Lowering the cost of living in Missouri is sure to be a topic of debate in Jefferson City next year when lawmakers return to the Capitol full-time.
The cost of living is an early priority for both Republicans and Democrats in Missouri, but ideas on how to address it could not be more different. Republican Gov. Mike Kehoe is already touting a yet-to-be-revealed plan to gradually eliminate income taxes.
