LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Winter weather moving in overnight has school districts preparing for possible closures Tuesday, with Franklin County Schools Superintendent Mark Kopp explaining the complex process behind snow day decisions.

Kopp said safety is the primary factor when determining whether to close schools, delay start times or release students early.

“It’s always a difficult decision to have to make,” Kopp said. “The safety our staff and students getting to and from school is always the most important decision.”
