Current eighth graders can start sending in applications to attend the Syracuse STEAM High School next year.
The STEAM school, which is an acronym for “science, technology, engineering, art and math,” opened its doors this fall to more than 200 ninth graders. The Syracuse City School District facility is open to students in Onondaga, Madison and Cortland Counties.
Applications for the 2026-2027 school year opened Nov. 17 and will be accepted through Jan. 31, according to SCSD spokesperson Amanda Malinowski. There are 250 total spots.
Prospective students will need to submit an application through their school counselor and go through an interview before being accepted. Grades, attendance, disciplinary records and letters of recommendation will also be considered.
