Multiple bomb threats were emailed to New York Sen. Chuck Schumer’s offices across the state on Monday morning, Dec. 1, prompting immediate security sweeps by local and federal law enforcement.
Schumer’s offices in Rochester, Binghamton, and Melville each received bomb threats with the subject line “MAGA,” the Democratic Senate Minority Leader confirmed in a post on X hours later.
The emails also included a claim that the “2020 election was rigged,” he added.
Schumer said law enforcement agencies across the state responded “immediately” and conducted full sweeps of each location. No injuries were reported.
“Everyone is safe, and I am grateful for their quick and professional response to ensure these offices remain safe and secure for all New Yorkers,” Schumer said.
He condemned the threats as another example of escalating political intimidation.
“As I have said many times, these kinds of violent threats have absolutely no place in our political system,” Schumer wrote. “No one—no public servant, no staff member, no constituent, no citizen—should ever be targeted for simply doing their job.”
Additional information on the investigation was not immediately available, and authorities have not disclosed whether any suspects have been identified.
