MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. — An elementary school student was arrested and is facing several felony charges after he allegedly brought a loaded gun to a school in western Arizona on Monday, according to authorities.
The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened at Fort Mohave Elementary School.
Staff at the school called the sheriff's office after an 8-year-old boy was found with a loaded handgun.
"The student displayed the weapon to several other students and passed it off to another student," the sheriff's office said in a news release.
Another uninvolved student overheard what was going on and went to the school's principal.
The sheriff's office said the school acted quickly to get the student and the gun away from its other students.
