GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A carjacking suspect accused of stealing a van used by Prevea Health in July is pleading not guilty by mental disease or defect, which is Wisconsin’s version of an insanity defense.
Jerilyn Soto, 46, of Keshena, was taken into custody on July 9 in Chicago and transported back to Green Bay to face charges.
Authorities accuse Soto of stealing the van at knifepoint from a Prevea Health employee who was on duty at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center on Shawano Avenue. No was reported injured in the incident.
The van wasn’t recovered and was used as a patient shuttle.
Soto entered her not guilty plea on Monday in Brown County Court. Her cash bond of $75,000, which was set in August, was continued.
A jury trial is scheduled for February 4, 2026.
