BIG RAPIDS- The Ferris State Bulldogs, ranked number one in the nation, defeated Ashland University 56-24 on Saturday in the NCAA Division II Playoffs, advancing to the National Quarterfinals.
The game took place at Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids, Michigan, where Ferris State capitalized on a strong rushing attack, amassing 348 yards and scoring five touchdowns on the ground.
Ferris State’s offense was led by quarterback Chase Carter, who completed nine passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 91 yards and another score.
The Bulldogs’ defense was instrumental in the victory, intercepting two passes and holding Ashland scoreless in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs will host Minnesota State in the Super Region Three Championship Game next Saturday in Big Rapids.
