NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation has patched 490 potholes along Clara Brown Road in Newberry County over the last two years, but residents say the temporary fixes are not holding up to daily traffic.
The four-mile stretch near Prosperity has become one of the roughest roads in the area, according to drivers who navigate it daily. The combination of potholes, crumbling edges and speeding vehicles creates dangerous conditions for commuters.
“It’s rough. You go to dodge one hole and hit two more,” said George Black, who has lived in the area for two decades.
Black said Clara Brown Road is “about the worst road around here.”
