The Garden State will make its mark at Super Bowl LX this upcoming February.
Charlie Puth , a 33-year-old singer and songwriter from Rumson, will be singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at America’s biggest sporting event before the game begins. The NFL announced the news on Sunday.
The Super Bowl will be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. on Feb. 8.
It will be the first time in 35 years that a Garden State singer has sung the national anthem on Super Bowl Sunday. The last time was Newark native Whitney Houston, who peformed the song before Super Bowl XXV in Tampa back in 1991. Her rendition , which came during the Persian Gulf War, is considered by many to be one of the best versions of the song.
