LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews spent Monday preparing trucks and equipment ahead of winter weather expected to hit the Bluegrass region starting Monday night.
Road crews attached new plow blades and filled trucks with salt as part of their preparation for the incoming winter storm. KYTC Spokesperson Allen Blair said they have staff and contractors ready to work 12-hour shifts to clear roads when snow and ice arrive.
Blair said that during the winter months, KYTC has staff on call in all counties to monitor forecasts and deploy crews when snow falls. In Fayette County, approximately 30 employees and contractors will be on the road at the same time. Across the state, that number can reach 1,500.
