ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Salvation Army in Alexandria will open a Warming Station on Dec. 2 at 5 a.m. for the public to come in out of the cold. They are located at 1284 Murray Street .
At 3:30 p.m. , they will switch to the inclement weather shelter for the public to stay overnight until temperatures reach above freezing windchills.
They shared they need breakfast items, anything microwavable, milk, juice, coffee, hot chocolate, bottled water, socks, gloves, winter hats/scarves and extra blankets.
Volunteers are also needed to take shifts monitoring both the warming center and the overnight inclement weather shelter.
