The National Cold War Center in Blytheville needs to raise $67.5 million by the end of the decade if it wants to meet a goal of opening a museum by 2030 or 2031.

Christian Ostermann, the center's executive director, said Monday that the center is eyeing a 2027 groundbreaking for the museum complex, despite only having one tenth of the capital needed.

So far, the center has raised $7.5 million of an overall $75 million goal, according to Ostermann. Despite the lagging fundraising and a partnership shake-up stemming from federal cuts, he sees the goal as reachable.

Ostermann and directors of other museums in the region say that once completed, the center will be a boon for Northeast Arkansas's tourism industry.
