A local nonprofit is seeking community support to brighten the holidays for children with incarcerated parents. "Christmas for Kids" is dedicated to providing gifts to these children.
"These kids have done nothing so we want to ensure that they get a beautiful Christmas just like our kids and everybody else's," Dixon said.
Debbie Dixon's own experience in a state prison for women nearly 40 years ago motivated her to give back. "I had promised myself, my family, the Lord that we would do this," Dixon said. She explained that the program holds sentimental value for her, adding, "Needless to say it's very sentimental to me. It's keeping a promise to me but I also know how some of these parents feel."
The program allows sponsors to receive a child's wish list and purchase gifts, similar to
