MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - On Monday, the Wisconsin Elections Commission unanimously approved Madison City Clerk Lydia McComas’ request to print poll books closer to the election.
Now the City will print poll books on the Friday before elections and have them ready by Sunday.
Poll books list the registered voters in each ward and provide a record of whether they’ve cast a ballot. Printing these books too early before the election was partly attributed to why nearly 200 ballots went uncounted in Madison in 2024.
“Printing the poll books later is certainly better,” said Ann Jacobs, chair of the Wisconsin Elections Commission.
