MADISON, Wis. -- Small Business Saturday faced significant disruption due to snow, but local businesses and advocates remain optimistic about a rescheduled event planned for this upcoming weekend.
The weather forced many shoppers to stay home during what is traditionally one of the most important shopping days for independent retailers. However, businesses are now preparing for what they're calling "Small Business Saturday 2.0" or a "redo" of the original event.
Luke Bacher, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business in Wisconsin, stressed the value of supporting local establishments over online alternatives.
"It's so easy to just sit on your couch and go on Amazon, but it's such an experience to come to a place like Monroe, here, New Glarus, any of the small town
