BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews are preparing for potentially slick conditions overnight as a light wintry system moves into south-central Kentucky.
The National Weather Service expanded a winter weather advisory Monday to include several southern District 3 counties, including Warren, Simpson and Logan. KYTC officials say the forecast has shifted throughout the day, raising the chances for at least minor travel impacts.
KYTC District 3 spokesman Wes Watt said crews spent Monday pre-treating interstates and parkways and will monitor conditions around the clock.
“It may turn out to be a little more hazardous than we initially thought, but we’re prepared,” Watt said, noting that bridge decks and overpasses will be the first areas to freeze.
