Two northeast Indiana universities remained among the Top 10 statewide for economic impact by international students – a population that contributed more than $997 million and supported about 8,350 jobs, according to a recent report.

Research released last month by NAFSA: Association of International Educators showed the flagship campuses for Purdue and Indiana universities topped the state in financial impact last academic year. Together, those institutions represented about $616 million, or 62%, of the dollars statewide.

Of the 31,000 international students statewide, about 2,000 contributed $43.4 million in the 3rd Congressional District, which generally covers northeast Indiana. About 170 jobs were supported.
