BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Fire Department has officially ruled the fire that killed two children and injured several others over the weekend as accidental.
Captain Francis Krathaus with the Buffalo Fire Investigation Unit confirmed Monday that the cause of the fire at 69 French Street was an electric heater that had been running inside the living room/dining room area on the first floor.
“The source of ignition related to the fire is going to be an electric heater that was on inside the living room/ dining room in the home,” Krathaus said.
The early-morning fire on Saturday left two young children, one two and one ten, dead. Several other children and two adults were taken to the hospital. Multiple pets were also lost.
