SALT LAKE CITY — A man was killed near Duck Creek Village in Kane County on Sunday. He was reportedly helping at the scene of an accident when he was hit.

Lt. Alan Alldredge with the Kane County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Cedar Mountain.

Alldredge said two vehicles had crashed in snowy conditions, and a man driving a Jeep pulled over and got out to check on the drivers. That’s when another vehicle struck the first two cars, killing the Jeep driver.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 57-year-old Richard Ross from Las Vegas. The department said first responders provided medical attention but he died at the scene.

It was not immediately clear if anyone else was injured in the crashes. The victim’s identity was not released.
