CLEVELAND — Cleveland City Council has approved Mayor Justin Bibb's $100 million settlement with the Haslam Sports Group at its meeting Monday night, paving the way for the Browns to play in a new domed stadium in Brook Park.
The measure was recommended by a 9-2 vote during a meeting of council's Committee of the Whole during the early evening. When the full meeting took place hours later, it officially passed 13-2, with only Brian Kazy and Mike Polensek voting in the negative.
The city says the $100 million from HSG will go toward redeveloping the lakefront, including the demolition of the current Huntington Bank Field downtown.
