OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A busy roundabout connecting five major roads closed Monday morning for a three-week construction project, creating traffic disruptions that could be extended by winter weather.

The roundabout connects North Saddle Creek, Country Club Avenue, and Happy Hollow Boulevard. Orange barrels and detour signs have replaced the steady flow of traffic at the intersection.

Snow has been falling for days, and the coldest temperatures of the season are moving in. Austin Rowser with Omaha Public Works said the city planned for weather delays.

“All of our contracts have rain days and snow days built into them. So we build the contracts around what we expect the weather days to be and plan the timeline of those projects accordingly,” Rowser said.
